Start with the NJ Courts Find a Case page. This free portal lets you search by party name or docket number. Choose Essex County to narrow results. You will see charges, case status, and court dates. The PROMIS/Gavel Public Access system is another free search tool. It tracks indictable criminal cases from arrest through appeal.
